When Steve Johnson began restoring classic air-cooled VWs from a small Leicester lock-up back in 2001 little did he realise that he would eventually own a purpose-built showroom & workshop and co-ordinate a full-time staff of six dedicated VW experts.

Since then, working near to the picturesque village East Midlands of Wymeswold, Johnson Autoworks has quietly built a well-deserved reputation as one of the UK’s leading classic VW restoration specialists.

'81 T25 Westfalia - SOLD

Californian import. This van is in exceptional condition, bodywork is outstanding with only a few minor blemishes and a small dent on the front offside door. The chassis and underside are also in excellent condition. The engine and mechanicals are in great shape with regular and up-to-date servicing. The interior is also in exceptional original condition.

'91 VW T25 Syncro - SOLD

This is an amazing opportunity to own what has become a very rare Camper, a T25 Syncro or T3 as it is known in Europe. Registered in March 1991 this particular T25 has had the same owner for the past 28 years. Lovingly cared for it only has 47,000 miles on the clock, and comes with a comprehensive service history that includes all of its MOTs and supporting documentation.

’68 VW Westfalia Camper

We know this camper well at Johnsons Autoworks as we’ve maintained it for over 15 years. It was built in 1968 and spent most of its life in California, before making it over to the UK in the early 2000s…

'74 Karmann Ghia

Imported from California in 2001, this classic 1970s Karmann Ghia was originally blue before being later resprayed to its current metallic silver finish with a white roof, which is an exceptionally cool retro look.

'76 Bay Window 'Art' Camper

The story behind this eye-catching camper is that it was built in Germany in 1976 and then an art student submitted it as her final art degree project in 2005. Subsequently, we found it in a barn in Belgium, rescued it, and brought it back to the UK for a thorough mechanical overhaul.
